The Kenner Ranch has a heart.
But when we moved here, we didn't hear its beat.
Nature is the Ranch's soul. Yet initially, we neither saw its honesty nor completely appreciated its simple beauty.
Because nature is in fact, unconditionally perfect. And perfection is a difficult thing to understand.
To believe otherwise would limit the possibilities for our growth. Recognizing and respecting nature's perfection allows us to see and "think above" the actions we take each day. Without nature's perfection, we would become hopelessly lost as we would not have the means to see things in new ways, or potentially and more importantly, un-learn those actions that no longer (or maybe never did) serve the best interests of the ranch, its domestic animals, and the wild-life that fortunately call this place their home.
We intend to use the perfection of nature to challenge the purpose and reasoning behind our actions and goals within EQuiSmarts. We suggest that nature's solution to any problem is optimal. Undoubtedly when we, as life's participants, alter the conditions of any natural situation, we take the responsibility of both our action's intended and un-intended consequences. However, when we look for, and struggle to understand the results of these actions, our wisdom about life (and of course the horses) beneficially grows.
Nature, in its perfection, is continuously resolving the interactions amongst all its creatures and systems--optimally. Thus, when one of our solutions seem inconsistent with nature's systems and rhythm, we need to pause in order to reflect upon what part of the nature's system we have likely failed to understand. This learning opportunity is how nature helps move us towards the extraordinary.
Fortunately, the Ranch's heart-beat is increasingly audible to us. I imagine and hope that its reassuring drumbeat draws us inevitably closer to the rhythm, honesty, and perfection of the soul of nature.
We promise to keep our eyes and ears always trained in its direction.
