Once Upon a Time we (humans) knew nothing about horses.
Now it seems, we know even less.
Everthing we (at the Kenner Horse Ranch) know is derived from the "knowledge" and experiences of others. Very little did we "discover" for ourselves. Much of this "knowledge" however, either just doesn't apply or can in some situations be just plain wrong. This is what I mean when I say I think we know even less than nothing.
It appears to me that "others that know" potentially have agendas. For example, they may wish to sell us products, services, and all manner of things without really understanding what we are trying to accomplish ... what we value ... and the direction we wish to go with our wonderful horses. In other cases, these folks have an emotional position on what the "right" thing to do is. In either case, it's hard to wade through what is truly known so that we may fashion an approach that works best for both our horses and us.
